ordered that senior official's execution after he was arrested in November 2011 without evidence before they issued him an official warning three weeks into a secret investigation of ties between Islamic groups in southern Afghanistan, sources knowledgeable with Afghanistan intelligence says.
Ashaf Ghani reportedly told an attorney present in a Kabul clinic that his fellow Afghan security personnel – senior politicians and military units with him in the town – called in American forces to issue an official condemnation and take him as "prisoner 11," but had only the lowest-ranked US troops present at time to witness and handle evidence they had provided.
